Poem: No Matter What Happens

Breathe in,

remember

Breathe out,

forget

I know no word such as regret

Everything we have is now

this light,

this day,

these words from this heart

will find their way

Breathe in deeply

Remembering it sweetly, it will become today again

Breathe out and see your breath in the morning chill

Keep it warm inside your heart

like the beads in your pocket

An old man will surely testify

It is what you left undone,

not what you did,

that dwells upon your heart

When the last breath makes its sigh

I know no word for this space we occupy

Apart but not alone, broken but hopeful,

For me there have been no mistakes

No regret

Why are we crazy?

These are our lives

I am unapologetic.

I will do it all again, tomorrow.

What do you want for the future?
